2014--Day 4
Not much to report today. The power came back around 2:30 am (yay), so of course so did the lights. We woke around 9, and there did not appear to be a whole lot of anything happening anywhere. It was also apparent that not much of anything was going to happen anywhere today. As such, we decided to have lunch in Grand Island after fetching Dave's car (which survived the QLCS onslaught from the night before).
It looks like Monday could be interesting around the South Dakota/Minnesota/Iowa/Nebraska region (hopefully VERY interesting). We couldn't convince Dave to come along, so we said goodbye to him and wonderdog Sierra. He headed west to Fort Collins, while we went in the other direction toward Lincoln, in the hopes of meeting up with Jef Polkowski, a former Brockport student studying urban design at UNL. No luck, so we headed north around Omaha and up I29, with an eye toward Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As we entered Iowa from Nebraska, I chuckled at the highway sign near Council Bluffs that advertised a ski area. I think we had higher terrain in Connecticut.
The final tally for today: 402 miles. I hope to have more to report tomorrow. Good night from South Dakota.
